Do you really want to go there, Holder?

Holder promises marijuana verdict coming ‘soon’

I have no idea what that means.

“We’re still in the process of reviewing both of the initiatives that were passed,” said Holder, speaking at the National Association of Attorney General annual conference in Washington, D.C.

“You will hear soon. We’re in the last stages of that review and we’re trying to make a determination as to what the policy ramifications are going to be, what our international obligations are — there are a whole variety of things that go into this determination — but the people of [Colorado] and Washington deserve an answer and you will have one soon.”

I’m sorry. What was the question?

I used to hang around with some real honest-to-Yahweh old-time herbalists, who knew what was good for what, and they would take me out to the woods to help them pick it.

They were the ones who introduced me to this stuff called “Green Essence” because I was always on the go and didn’t have time to eat my veggies (as if I ever liked to). As much as I disliked the taste, it did the job.

But…it would turn your tongue a rich neon green. Gross as all get out. Maybe I should start drinking that stuff again after medicating…and keep the bottle handy. Hint, hint, hint.

    “”what our international obligations are””

After over 200 years of breaking nearly every treaty the US entered into he wants to worry about a treaty we created, financed, bullied through the UN and pay to keep in place,,what a fucking liar.

    • divadab says:

I think the “International obligations” Holder’s referring to is the obligation to insist that the emperor is actually wearing clothes. And to make all the imperial allies and satraps stipulate that the emperor’s clothes are magnificent.

The bribe money. Don’t forget the bribe money. Which is a pittance compared to what the cartels will give the very same recipients of Uncle’s taxpayer-supplied ‘largesse’. Which is why so many local tin-pot dictators double-dip. Uncle’s too ‘cheap’.

Oh, we know what they want to do. It’s just that what they want to do will set off a powder keg…and they’re sitting on top of it. Monkeying with the very foundation of democracy will do that.

No amount of legal sophistry will cover their crypto-fascism this time. Trying to nullify the politically expressed will of the people of WA and CO sends a message to the entire country that the game is over, time to begin a new one…without the current bureaucratic and political beneficiaries of Uncle’s racket as players.

This was what the referendum process was and is for: to make an end-run around the entrenched special interests that ‘captured’ the government bureaucracies that were (ostensibly!) to serve the public. When those entrenched special interests start squealing about the public exercising that prerogative, you know you’ve drawn blood. Time to cut deeper…

    • claygooding says:

Somewhere, over the rainbow,,a law clerk has surely pointed out that any trials for state licensed marijuana production or distribution, including any civil suit against the state, will have a jurors panel made up of the voters that made those activities legal,,,can you say hung juries and possible nullification of their stupid federal law.

Darn tootin’, Pete! It was the voters who asked and answered the questions. There is no question about their right to do so.

I think the only real question is how the feds will try to save face. Holder can’t even speak to the issue without seeming very asinine.

And how many folks will get crushed by the falling bricks…that’s an important question. AG Holder?

This one is from the “equal protection under the law” category:

Fifth grader brings marijuana to school

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A fifth grader who brought marijuana to his school in an effort to stop his dad from smoking could be expelled from school.

According to Diana Klink with the City of Suffolk, an officer responded to Driver Elementary, 4270 Driver Lane, for a student in possession of marijuana.

Klink said the student told officers he found marijuana in his dad’s truck and took it to school with him to show his teacher he wanted his dad to stop using it.

Bethanne Bradshaw with Suffolk Public Schools said the student was recommended for expulsion per policy and will have an expulsion hearing within 10 days.

I saw the headline and clicked in order to make a sarcastic post claiming that I hoped that this little felon guilty of drug trafficking would be expelled pursuant to the school’s zero tolerance policy. I’m still fish mouthing in utter disbelief. The prohibitionists will fuck over anyone, anyone at all.

I must be in denial. I just can’t seem to accept that the arts of sarcasm and parody are dead, murdered by the Know Nothing prohibitionists. Even as I say that I’m thinking, just a bit more CPR, hit them with the defibrillator paddles, a shot of adrenaline directly into the heart, what about a…

I’m looking forward to oregon’s handling of our first legislative legalization bill (HB 3371). The chatter so far is positive and after last year’s win’s (even Paul Stanford’s intitiative’s loss was close enough that I call it a win) I sense a renewed spirit of cooperation amongst oregonion activists.

And as Kap said… they’ve been cut. They now know couch potatoes can do more than make french fries. The question now is “how do they want to lose?”

They can back away (but we know that won’t happen). They can say “f*** the voters and raise limited hell, trying to spook the herd like they’ve been doing pursuing mmj producer and dispensary persecutions prosecutions. They can amend the CSA (won’t happen). Or… or they can ignore WA and CO and call it ‘the state’s experiment’ while fighting tooth and nail against legalization in other states, begging for CO and WA results before moving forward.

And that’s another bad headline. The verdict was reached in November. We’re a 300 mph mfing freight train. Best to get out of the way.

Bambi and Thumper may look all cute and cuddly but there’s no doubt that they’re friends of the ONDCP. I’ve never heard my friend complain about squirrels vis a vis outdoor growing.

Speaking of Thumper all the bunnies in my yard have converted to being nocturnal. They’ve been scaring the hell out of me all month when I got out to the woods to check my mice traps. Now how does an entire species wake up one morning and decide to go nocturnal? Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

I’m paraphrasing, but he said that he didn’t smoke pot, but that he was happy to see that my state (Colorado) legalized marijuana and are basically sticking it to the feds and telling them to stop wasting money locking up people over a plant. Did not expect that, but it made me very happy.

    • kaptinemo says:

Indeed. Kevin is a purveyor of truthiness, not truth.

The news media could also stand some well-deserved raking over the coals for their obvious laziness in not doing their homework concerning this background of this mercenary mouthpiece. Taking his (heavily padded) resume at face value, without actually determining what he really did on our dime and our time, is another point of embarrassing failure of today’s cut-and-paste ‘journalists’.

And it won’t hurt to point out who’s filling his rice bowl. I strongly suspect that he never un-clamped his lips from a Gub’mint teat, and I wouldn’t be surprised that he is still being fiscally supported via ‘grant’ money courtesy of the US taxpayers.

(Hmmm. Sounds like an addiction, doesn’t it? Off to rehab, off to rehab with him!!!!!)

And challenging his lack of medical credentials – while he obliquely insinuates with his ‘Ph.D’ that he has them – goes a long way towards unmasking the agenda of the control-freaks he associates with. For, as the old saying goes, “You are known by the company you keep.”

I said it before and I’ll keep saying it: Just as the Ahnenerbe before it, the ONDCP has been an obscure hotbed of scandal, pseudoscience, bigotry and mendacity, in which its’ denizens feverishly labor away for their hope of a secular version of a drug-free inverse Rapture that will never come.

Such sad creatures belong in asylums, not loose in the streets and the airwaves, haranguing and pestering those that know better…and they certainly don’t belong on the payroll.

        • kaptinemo says:

But, but, but…I was taught it was sin to waste food! After all, there were ‘people starving in China!’ and all that.

Besides, I could never stand whole tomatoes. If there was ever a food with a better use as projectiles, that was it. But I’m not about to buy something, let it go bad, and then pitch it at someone, because I don’t like what they’re saying. The prohibs aren’t worth it, and…it’s just not economical. These idiots don’t seem to understand that people will do stuff that is ant-social to downright criminal if they have no food for themselves, a place to sleep not exposed to the elements or have loved ones doing without medical care. At best these short sighted laws will cause people to make cardboard signs and annoy people like me at traffic intersections. At worst they’ll turn to real criminality (AKA common law crimes) producing innocent victims and ending up in jail. It’s a dictionary picture perfect example of being penny wise and dollar foolish. Any way you look at it the taxpayers are going to pick up the tab.

        Conservative? Shirley, you jest.

Oh c’mon, you use zip ties. I thought everyone knew that. What makes this guy Depitty Stewpid is the nonsense about amputating the rattles. Of course that would make the snake die, a rattlesankae can’t live without his rattles anymore than a horse can live with less than 4 legs. Smart people use cotton balls and duck tape instead. (posted before I read about ankle traps modified with duct tape and padding…just some minor synchronicity)

Hey, how about burying a hand grenade in the root balls so that when a copper or a ripper tries to snatch up the plant it sends him a message?

…at 24:52, they show a small mammal trap, the jaws of which the growers had wrapped in padding and duct tape (so it was a humane, no kill trap, and whatever they caught would not be injured and could be turned loose). What Drug Policy Reform Looks Like

    http://tinyurl.com/b7k45by

President Obama believes in the pursuit of an America built to last – a Nation founded on an educated, skilled workforce with the knowledge, energy, and expertise to succeed in a highly competitive global marketplace. Yet, for too many Americans, this vision is hampered by drug use and addiction, which inhibits their ability to live healthy lives and achieve their full potential.

While the harms caused by substance use and substance use disorders may seem obvious, here’s a reminder of what the data show: According to the CDC, drug overdose deaths are the second leading cause of injury death, surpassed only by suicides. Making matters worse, studies show that among the 22 million Americans who need treatment for substance use disorders, only about 2 million—only about one-in-10—receive it [i]. What has caused this disparity? For a start, not all health insurance plans have been required to cover drug treatment on par with other medical problems. That’s unacceptable.

Kerli and crew are trying for the big one,,drug screening at your doctors office for all.

    • Servetus says:

Ugly. Really ugly. This is what Dr. Thomas Szasz referred to when he described the ‘therapeutic state’, wherein psychotherapy is made a substitute for prisons and gulags, a tool for eliminating undesirables.

The prohibitionists intend to deputize doctors to quarry their prey. This has been the role given to the medical profession from the beginning. Doctors have been prohibited from treating addicts since 1914, and must refer all said chemical heretics to the police.

They’re coming for our body fluids. I say piss on ’em. At the current rate, we can legalize drugs before they can impose their 4th Amendment violations.

      • darkcycle says:

“Dr. Szasz was much more humanist than you give him credit for. …” I started to write this and then I realized you DID know about Szasz, I almost stepped in doo-doo.
What can you say about the author of “The Myth Of Mental Illnes” that is bad?

      • kaptinemo says:

This is why it is absolutely vital that, when you visit any doctor’s office, you do NOT sign the HIPAA form. This is tied to Section 215 of the (choke, cough, puke) so-called PATRIOT Act, which has destroyed doctor/patient confidentiality.

Signing it legally authorizes the doctor’s office to violate your 4th and 5th Amendment rights by sending test results to the list of ‘authorities’ mentioned on the form, among which are police and Federal agents. It’s no different than the cop trying to enter your home by being falsely chummy with you, hoping that you won’t know that by letting them in you have surrendered your 4th Amendment rights.

And…I don’t provide my SSN, either. This is not necessary for your treatment, or your billing, either. Most doctor’s offices don’t want a fight about this and will not press the issue if you refuse to provide it.

Damn prohibs could never win in a stand-up fight, always sneaking around behind you, like what Churchill said about the Soviets being a burglar in a hotel corridor, trying every single doorknob to see which one is unlocked so they could loot the place. In this case they want to loot your remaining rights. Slime…

        • claygooding says:

    DC,

You talk about the HIPAA form, yet I’ll bet many here do something else. You mentioned the supermarket. Do you use points? You allow someone to track your specific purchases? Really? The first time I was ever asked if I wanted a Points card, ANYWHERE, the answer’s always NO!

    • darkcycle says:

Oh, HELL no. They don’t get to track MY purchases. I even use cash nine out of ten times. At one time many years ago, I did get a Fred Meyer Card, to get the discount on one specific item. That’s way too paranoid for me. After decades of having the most boring customer loyalty program in existence Safeway has leapfrogged the rest of the grocery stores.

Why in the world would I worry if someone knows what brand of tofu I eat or if I buy more Depends than needed for long car trips? It’s easy enough to sign up with a phony name and address for those programs if you’re going to insist on being scared.

      • darkcycle says:

It’s not about being scared Duncan, it’s about exercising control over my personal information. I don’t need someone inferring my demographics from my purchases (they’re likely to be wrong), and targeting me for advertising.

More stupid prohibitionist extremes and antics. These guys really do get upset if there aren’t any dogs to shoot:

Ames [Iowa] Police: Three Charged in Marijuana Mailings

    /snip/
On Feb. 20 both Cody Cain, 22, of Sioux City, and Owen Brehm, 21 of Ames, refused a package of marijuana delivered to a Walton Drive home and tried to run away, complaints said. Both men were charged with interference with official acts, according to criminal complaints.

…and then there are the victims who have bought the bill of goods offered by the prohibitionist crowd:

Mass. woman sues FedEx over marijuana delivery

PLYMOUTH, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts woman has sued FedEx, claiming the company mistakenly sent her a package containing seven pounds of marijuana, then gave her address to the intended recipients, who later showed up at her door.

Maryangela Tobin of Plymouth said in the suit filed Feb. 12 that by disclosing her address, the company violated state privacy laws and put herself and her children in danger.

“I feel like the safety of my daughters and myself was invaded and it makes things complicated,” she told WBZ-TV. “I walk into my house first every time, my kids don’t.”
    /snip/

Apparently the people who expected to get the package were told by Fed-Ex where the package was delivered, knocked on her door politely, asked if their package was there, then left without incident when told it wasn’t there, practically causing the idiot woman to drop dead from fright. She’s so concerned about her privacy that she gives her name and interviews to the Associated Press, not to mention that her address is listed in the phone book.

    • primus says:

So, whether you accept the package or refuse it, you are going to gaol? What kind of Catch-22 is that? As to the lady who is angry at the Fed/Ex, she has a point; who knows what could have happened? Privacy laws are there for a reason, they messed up.

      • Duncan20903 says:

        .
        .

You should go read the law. The suit is meritless. Don’t you know that just because the politicians give a law a name doesn’t mean that the name matches the law? I also wouldn’t be surprised in the least if the whole thing is a con game designed to rob FedEx. A total amateur bush league scam by a dilettante grifter who’s going to get her ass handed to her by the boys from Memphis. Stay tuned…

  35. darkcycle says:

First thing I thought was the folks who came and tried to get the package had messed up. I figured they had scoped out houses where the people kept a regualr work schedule, and used one of those address to try to recieve their goods. But rather than leaving it on the porch, the homeowner was unexpectedly home, and recieved the package. The rest sounds like a slick shyster’s ploy for some fat Fed Ex dough.
