Those poor beer distributors, worried about stoned beer truck drivers.

Yeah, sure. That’s why they gave $10,000.

Roger Salazar vs. Mason Tvert on CNN

[Thanks, jhelion, and h/t to Maria for title]

And just for the record, we understand that there are beer makers who support Proposition 19 or are neutral to Proposition 19, particularly many of the smaller beer makers, who rightly feel that they were misrepresented by the California Beer and Beverage Distributors.

Don’t blame us for that misrepresentation.

It is already against the law to drive whilst drug impaired.

By all means free police up to actually enforce these laws by ending prohibition.

I hate how most media coverage is calling cannabis “pot”. Right in that video it says “Alcohol vs Pot”, if they’re going to do that it either needs to be “Booze vs Pot”, or “Alcohol vs Cannabis”.

But we all know that won’t change, along with the smirks and laughs by newscasters when they say pot.

The guy from safer was awesome, he really put the hurtin’ on that other dude. It was nice to see the reporter siding more with the prop 19 side too.

  4. claygooding says:

Sierra Nevada removed their membership from CBBD and asked their name be removed from any of their endorsements.

  5. claygooding says:

I wish one of the proponents would defend proof of impairment or lack of with the standard drunk driving testing done by every police officer,if the driver can pass the standing on one foot, head back, eyes closed,
touch your nose test, how could they be impaired?

Just love it, Salazarr saying that all the counties will have to have standard and make laws reguarding cannabis use while driving and working. Well no duh dip shit..we had to do that with alcohol. He makes it sound like its too difficult to do so lets not do it.

Oh hey Salazaar, if people want to drive stoned now, they will, if people want to work stoned NOW, they will. No different than legal alcohol.

Shock horror you won’t be able to fire someone based solely on what you found in their urine. You might actually have to have, y’know, a valid reason.

  8. Maria says:

Woot. Gotta get that title on some stickers. 😉

Just watched the vid. Again with the forklift drivers! Again with the weirdness. As if suddenly, with cannabis legal, employers won’t be able to fire people for being irresponsible idiots.

My employer can’t fire me because I had a shot of baileys in my morning coffee (uhm. not that i do that. often. *cough*) before I leave my house or a glass of wine with lunch. But he sure as hell can if I’m nipping a flask at the design meetings and basically messing up and failing to do my job.

I have to say that the host was great as well. I laughed when he went “Hang on hang on hang on aren’t those the same rules with alcohol?” Love it.

“Again with the forklift drivers! Again with the weirdness. As if suddenly, with cannabis legal, employers won’t be able to fire people for being irresponsible idiots.”

Workman’s comp is another way that employers can put an employee in a dangerous or harmful situation and deny coverage if an accident happens and thc metabolytes are in that person’s urine. Freakin’ baloney.

  10. Cliff says:

They need piss tests, because they can’t tell if someone is high. If you don’t exhibit visible, obvious signs of impairment, then you aren’t impaired. The tests don’t measure impairment, just metabolytes.

  11. Safety ? Ha Ha who are they trying to fool ? Alcohol is one of the least safest intoxicants known to man . I’ve never seen a person stoned on weed falling over dead drunk , stumbling or unable to walk but i sure have seen a lot of drunks on ” LiveLeak ” falling over , stumbling and unable to walk .My , Aunt was pretty drunk one night and fell down a bunch of stairs as a result .She was and will be never the same after ger concusion . She was left with permanent brain damage .
Such ridiculousness , such lies spew out of the mouths of BIG ALCOHOL .

Poor , Roger….i really feel sorry for him . Making a total fool out of himself for a few bucks .I think i saw horns growing in the rear of his head during the last 5 % of his interview & they kept getting larger .

I love this CNN anchor! One of the few news personalities that actually seems to get it.

  14. The last thing a California microbrew needs is to be associated with the effort against legalizing marijuana. “We regret any implied association with this action by the CBBD, and maintain our independence and neutrality regarding matters of politics,” the Sierra statement said. “The CBBD does not represent Sierra Nevada’s political interests in any way, and does not represent the brewery’s stance on the issue.”
