What do they mean by held over?…
“Held over” means they ran out of time, and they’ll take it up next time.
Which will be at the next Judiciary Committee if they don’t have time for it in this session. This is where
the opposition tries to put it off,hoping the problem goes away. This bill has enough sponsors though that just maybe they will debate it. A lot of bills,such as Barney Franks medical marijuana bill,which is also scheduled for debate by this same committee,die in committee,because they just don’t have enough sponsors to push them through.
And some of prohibitions mast avid supporters are on this committee,Grassley for one. Fingers crossed.
It doesnt matter, they have lost. They just dont want to admit defeat yet.
That is true,but how long can they drag out their defeat is costing the US tax payer millions of dollars,as the new budget is being set up,with all the bells and whistles for the DEA and the ONDCP bureaucratic empire to spend,accomplishing nothing for another year,plus continuing locking up non-violent,victimless criminals and the tax payer paying for their incarceration.
About the time that the budget is debated will be our strongest chance for reform. Although a senator or representative won’t cut their own budget too save the tax payer a penny or consider legalizing marijuana,they might consider reducing the budgets of government programs that are not working and have not worked after 40 years of spending with no results except filling our prisons with harmless people.
grrrrrr. See what happens when I actually manage to find what I’m looking for….Bad news. Grrrrrr I was hoping this might get somewhere but it aint looking good. Gotta keep the war machine going I guess. Grrrrrr
