I know that I’ve mentioned this before, but the very best imported hashish that was in steady supply for me was a nice, very soft black hash which was sold to finance the Afghan “Freedom Fighters” in their “struggle to throw off the yoke of oppression of the commies in the USSR.” I’ve no doubt that they had the tacit approval of the Reagan administration because if there was anyone that Mr. Reagan hated worse than potheads, it was the commies. The really, really sad part is that had the U.S. just ignored the commies “invading” Afghanistan the situation would have worked out more or less the same. But with the benefit of hindsight it’s pretty easy to see that the Wall and what it represented was structurally unsound. All that Mr. Reagan accomplished was to enrich and empower Mr. bin Laden and his henchmen.

Sorry John, the attempt to demonize libertarians doesn’t work as well these days like it did just ten years. The left and right have been demonizing libertarians for 50 years now, and its finally starting to wear off as fewer people identify themselves as Democrat or Republican than at any time since the Civil War. Now its their turn to be demonized for all the evil things the left and right have allowed their two parties to do our population.
The drug war was and is evil and everyone and every entity backing it deserves to be demonized, especially the Democrat and Republican parties and their voters.
