Join our Drug Testing Club!

That’s right! Forget basketball, or music, or chess. Join the fun club where the main activity is taking drug tests. Pass them and you get to stay in the club and earn discounts from local businesses.

McFarland hopes that with this program students can see the rewards and benefits of staying drug free. One way he hopes to promote this is by schools and local businesses to give these students perks, such as some much off a meal, extra credit towards a class or test or a pass on one day of conditioning if the student plays a sport.

Every student who signs up for the Drug Free Club will receive an ID card. To continue to stay in the club, students must be able to pass all of the drug tests that will be given in that year.

This really sounds a bit creepy to me. A drug free ID card?

I always thought the police were supposed to be protecting public safety and catching criminals who have committed crimes against citizens’ persons or property. But these guys are apparently, on the poor taxpayers of Belmont County, Ohio’s dime, in the business of training kids to be clients of the police state.

Sick and terrible and a complete insult to any concept of liberty, as is the War on (SOme)Drugs in general.

Perhaps they could call it the Pee-catchers club. They could take a specimen bottle as the club mascot.
I noticed….there are no comments at this piece. I wonder HOW that could be?

And only 60 bucks? Can I get a T-shirt too?

This is disturbing as is the thread below showing young kids the coppers new military toys which could actually used against themselves if they question authority like we do.
This is just conditioning to train them to accept the new world order as it slowly takes over.
I get some consolation that my own children are too smart and well educated by me to not see through the BS.

Quite frankly I think for the first few years of re-legalization that the urine testers are going to have some very financially rewarding years. I hope I’m wrong but support for prohibition among the sycophants is built on irrational fear. And I’m sure that the parasites will be stoking those coals.

You know what has been the most fun for me in 2013? Even more fun than watching the idiot prohibitionist parasites marginalized into irrelevance? All the stuff that’s happened that I just never could have predicted. Whoa, there’s a country bound and determined to re-legalize, there’s the NAACP sitting on our side of the table, there’s an opinion poll that says 58% of the people support re-legalization, there’s a gang of inbred rednecks saying that they don’t care go ahead and re-legalize. It really has been a stunner of a year for me.

So anyway, here’s a new one from Utah. We’ve heard a lot of predictions that all sorts of worthless bums would migrate to Colorado or Washington though there were no details forthcoming on where the worthless bums would acquire the means to do so. Well no reports of that but it seems that parents with sick children have decided to move to Colorado rather than argue with the powers that be in Utah. But who in the heck would have predicted seeing that first headline below? Actually who would have predicted either?

On this side of my keyboard it certainly feels like after 40 years of effort and hard work that it’s going to happen overnight. I know it isn’t true but sometimes it feels like none of those decades and decades of work really mattered, that on November 6, 2012 the Country woke up and just decided that it was time to end the charade. But that’s probably a byproduct of decades of disenfranchisement. Since I never felt like our opinions and efforts ever mattered before it’s a bit difficult to adjust to the fact that I was obviously just plain wrong.

Yes, I’m still keeping a sharp eye and halfway expecting that “just say no” bitch to rise from the dead. But you know what? It just isn’t 1982 anymore.

(What, you’re trying to tell me Nancy Reagan isn’t dead? Are you sure? I just saw her on TV the other week and she certainly did look like a cadaver. Isn’t modern medicine wonderful?)

I realized we were having an effect several years ago, when some random woman e-mailed me at my darkcycle address to say “thank you and keep it up”. She said upfront she had searched out that address not knowing if it even belonged to the same darkcycle. But she had seen my comments before, and had gone to the trouble of searching me out. After being thoroughly creeped out, and blocking her, I started to think about that one.
Ever hear of the “Glam Dicin”? In Celtic lore, it was the poet’s “killing satire”. The person it was directed at was said to be killed, as if it were by sword. In reality, it was a satire so truthful and accurate that it destroyed a King’s power. It is difficult to inspire fear, awe and obedience when the people are laughing at you. That’s what we’ve done. We’ve followed the prohibitionists and hounded them mercilessly when they show their heads. We’ve turned the comments sections into forums where their ideas are refuted, and more effectively still, publicly ridiculed. And it has been quite a shocker….because I see more and more indications that we have been a big part of changing the balance of power.
Some random troll came through and posted on an earlier thread that we were jealous of Kleiman, because he was relevant, and we were not. I just had to smile, because it truly appears that it was us, in part, that has caused this to happen. There really is no other conclusion that makes any sense.
I wasn’t a crusader until I came here. I had done some work with NORML as a student. I worked on the first hempfest with Vivian McPeak, but not the second, or the sixth, or the tenth. Only after Kapn’ showed up in the comments section of some piece I was reading at the time with a link back here that I caught fire. And I have seen this happen again and again and again. People cruise through here, and they get infected. And they carry this viral truth out and infect people wherever they go.
It’s quite a boggler. I’ve looked for other reasons this could be happening, but every indication is we (and people like us) are the reason, or at least a big, big part of it.

I have no doubt that couch style anarchy spread and made a difference.

When Pete was on Salon he had a bulletin board that allowed us to plot in private… it was fun and Pete has long played the immaculate host. When I discovered DWR, I was home. A lot of my cool anti-WOD wwwebfriends were here ahead of me. And then when Pete moved in here with the world’s longest couch… I was so comfortable I even took my pants shoes off.

I think this crew’s perhaps most important role was in promoting and practicing civility. We didn’t need to swear or get mad, the facts did and do all our work.

And I’m beginning to think that Ms Taylor was a harpy prophetess. Her shrill hysterics were widely shared, publicly evidenced prohibition nuttery. (if I were really cruel I’d link to her Modesto video, “it’s a scam people!”)

And largely, that’s about all the prohibs have left – shrill hysterics. They’re all starting to sound like activist1. She rode her miniscule wave of fame but it was all to our benefit.

And I really have to tip my hat to both Kap and Malcolm for really keeping the point forward and being a couple of the coolest heads and deliverers of intelligent, eloquent smackdown that sail out there on the wwwebwaters.

“More and more of the things that set the internet on fire are of that species of charmingly moronic pairing of text and image that allows even the post-literate to feel like they have partaken of a shared cultural moment. And now, scientists are beginning to understand how the curiously addictive visual tropes known as “memes” are born, why they die, and whether or not it’s possible to predict which will “go viral” and be harvested by the night-soil merchants up at meme warehouses like Cheezburger.

Treating memes like genes tells us which are likely to spread

The internet, of course, was barely in its infancy when Richard Dawkins, a British evolutionary biologist, coined the term “meme” back in 1976. And he meant it as a much more nuanced concept, encompassing pretty much any idea that is good at propagating from one human brain to another—whether it is dialectical materialism or the tune to Happy Birthday.

But Dawkins was deliberate in his comparison of memes to genes. Like the molecular units of inheritance, memes “reproduce” by leaping from one mind to another, “mutate” as they are re-interpreted by new humans, and can spread through a population. The internet has radically accelerated the spread of memes of all kinds…”

I thought they were giving away free drugs for joining the club. Talk about bait and switch! 🙁

  14. allan says:

so when we test the drugs… do we get like a week or so? And is it user choice? Are we testing for quality or is it going to be like writing up a book review on Amazon?

I mean there are several I don’t need or want to re-test. There are several I DO want to retest, several I haven’t but must… and with all the strains of cannabis, pot testing alone could take me a month or two (or twelve).

I’m glad that prohibition is losing but who ever thought it would be so open post-prohibition that schools are going to test drugs. I think they should stick to letting us seasoned adult veterans do the testing for now, but whatever… where do I sign up?

Come here kiddies and let us watch you pee. Are we sure some sicko NAMBLA groupie isn’t behind this drug testing club for kids? Seems like the same mentality.

    • Jeff Trigg says:

The sicko behind this? Belmont County Sheriff Dave Lucas

“Law enforcement veteran and Belmont County native David Lucas has thrown his hat into the ring as a Republican candidate for Belmont County sheriff.

The former head of security for the Belmont County Courthouse and sheriff’s department major launches his bid for sheriff with more than 28 years of local law enforcement leadership experience. He sought the office of sheriff in 2008 as a Democrat, losing in the Democrat primary to Sheriff Fred Thompson.

Lucas assists his wife, Bobbie Presutti Lucas, in operating both Pyrotechnics by Presutti Inc. and Ohio Fireworks. The Lucases reside in St. Clairsville and are the parents of Jessica and Cody.”

Sell the kids on blowing things up with pyrotechnics, but watch them pee to make sure they don’t smoke cannabis? Doesn’t matter which of the two evil, political parties he wins with, as long as he can watch kids pee.

One of these days some parent is going to stand up at a school board meeting and challenge the school board to pee in front of everyone right then and there to prove they believe its a good idea to make our children do exactly that.

    Nazi Germany – Hitler Youth
In the early 1920s, the Nazi party had established a youth movement led by Kurt Gruber, with the aim of attracting young men who could be trained to become members of the SA (Stormtroopers).

On 4th July 1926 the group was renamed the Hitler Youth, League of German Worker Youth and became attached to and run by the SA.

The Hitler Youth (Hitler Jugend) wore uniforms and attended meetings and rallies where they were indoctrinated with Nazi views.

Hitler Youth recruitment posterAdolf Hitler believed that the support of the youth was vital to the future of the third Reich and aimed, through the Hitler Youth programme, to produce a generation of loyal supporters of Nazi views.

Posters were used to attract more members and membership rose from 5,000 in 1925 to 25,000 in 1930.

When the Nazis came to power in 1933 other youth groups were forcibly merged into the Hitler Youth and by the end of 1933 membership stood at just over 2 million.

In December 1936, membership of the Hitler Youth became virtually compulsory for all boys and girls aged over 10 years – membership could only be avoided by not paying subscription fees, but this ‘loophole’ was relaxed in 1939 and membership increased to 8 million members by 1940. more>>
